This is a partial list of possible rc sailing sites within relative easy reach by RC sailors living in Metro Manila. We try to indicate whether the place is RC sailing friendly, or if there is only a possiblity that it can be sailed on.

UPDATED: 05/09/02

1. TAAL LAKE- Taal lake is a very good place to sail rc boats, the wind usually blows well in the lake as evidenced by the number of hobie sailors regularly sailing in the area. The best place to sail in Taal is at Taal Lake Yacht Club, where the Phil. RC Sailing club (PRSC) members regularly meet and sail. There is always a Rescue boat on standby in case your receiver batteries dies on you or if you get stuck. VERY RC SAILING FRIENDLY!

2.  PARKS AND WILDLIFE NATURE PRESERVE-The club was recently informed by a member that the pond at Parks and Wildlife is not only bigger now, and that the park is still open and accessable, but that the Park is open to RC powerboaters and RC sailors. The pond is usually used by powerboaters during Saturdays, while on Sundays RC Sailors are free to sail.  One can still sail during Saturdays, just make sure that you check your freq. against the power boaters, as freq. jamming with powerboats are more disastrous than with sailboats.  RC boat enthusiasts usually meet at "Da Lagoon" restuarant, which serves as a sailing venue as well. The club has chosen the park as one of the main sailing venues because of it's accessability to most of the members. The park charges P8.00 per person and P15 for parking fee. Click here to learn how to get to the Park. Click here to view where we usually hang out in the park!  VERY  RC SAILING FRIENDLY

3. CLEARWATER COUNTRY CLUB- is a private family club located at Clark Field, Pampanga designed to be a 5 star vacation destination and country club.Clearwater is a unique concept in the Philippines as it is the only country club whose main activities, ambience, facilities and amenities revolve around the water, a 3.5-hectare man-made fresh water lake, hence the name Clearwater Country Club.  VERY  RC SAILING FRIENDLY

4. MANILA BAY- The club has successfully held the "Commodore Mike Zosa Cup"  within the protected waters of the Manila Yacht Club.  The waters in the basin provides good wind and protects water from strong waves from the bay.  Unfortunately the MYC is an exclusive member's club only, thus only members and guests are allowed to sail within MYC.  However one can choose to park at the CCP complex and sail within the basin from that side, the only disadvantage is that you won't have access to a chase boat.RC SAILING FRIENDLY

5. NAYONG PILIPINO- The pond there, which are actually scale models of big lakes around the Philippines are potentail sailing sites. Arvin has actually sailed his electric power boats there. Not sure if they still allow "toys" inside the park. If they do, the boat getting stuck is one of the problems that may be encountered, no problem with rescue boats though, because there are lots of small bancas for rent that you can use to retreive your boat. Thing is they are P50.00 a round, so if you get stuck often....you get the picture? Your boat won't get too far though, if you lose control while sailing, your boat will likely sail to the other end of the pond where you can retrieve it. One other thing, you might have to wade in muck or mud, to launch or retrieve your boat, not sure if there is a good place to do so without getting wet. Currently we are trying to contact the park director to ask for official permission to sail, maybe check if they can provide us some assistance for RC sailing. MOST PROBABLY RC SAILING FRIENDLY

6. LAKE CALIRAYA- Though none of the PRSC members have sailed their RC at Lake Caliraya, we figured it is an RC sailing friendly lake, plus the wind should also be good because this is where the Board sailing community regularly go to sail. The only concerns are that the wind might sometimes be too strong for RC sailboats (you'll find a lot of boardsailors out if this happens) and also you'll have to consider looking for a chaseboat in case your receiver batteries goes dead on you. MOST PROBABLY RC SAILING FRIENDLY

7. MARIKINA RIVER- The area near the "RIVERBANK" mall has long been a venue for RC Powerboaters, however recently some RC Sailors have been trying out the area and found it to be a good sailing venue.  On Dec. 29,2001 the first Marikina RC Sailboat regatta will be held there proving that the area is RC sailboat friendly.RC SAILING FRIENDLY

8. GOLF COURSE WATER HAZARDS- The water hazards in the numerous golf courses in and around Metro Manila is really a good place to sail in. However these are often wasted because golf clubs don't allow water hazards to be used for anything else except being a water hazard. People can fish and sail rc boats in them if they were just opened. The thing is, the clubs doesn't want people trampling the fairway. Alabang Country club used to allow people to fish the water hazards during Mondays, but they stopped doing so for reasons unkown. If anyone is a member of a golf club which has a water hazard near the club house, preferrably with a carpath leading to it, please help us in asking permission to sail in the hazard, during off days or in the evening. Heck, they don't have to open it to the public, maybe just members and dependents. This way there are a lot of ponds to sail in, which will promote a hobby, fishing or rc sailing. POTENTIAL

The ranking of being rc sailing friendly was determined by the following factors:
safety, rescueboat availablity, potential of not being able to retreive a boat, accessablitly, & launching and retreiving area availablity.

If you know of a good place to sail in or have more information/comments about the places listed here please email :
