FLEET HISTORY:

The One Meter fleet started off when during sailing meets and regatta there were some members that came with old one meter boats with them, among them a very old Soling One meter. Then a local hobbyist decided to make a mould for a Soling One meter, very similar to the old soling one meter, but also has a lot of ideas from the popular Soling One meter One design very popular in the US made by Victor. In fact the soling one meter fleet of the club will accept the Victor One design within it's fleet.

DEVELOPMENT OF THE FLEET:

As the Soling One meter is not the same as the Victor One meter soling One design, it is not recognized by AMYA or other organization except the PRSC.  The PRSC recognizes the Soling one meter as a general class, thus any soling design that is 1 meter in length shall be considered part of the class and fleet.  The local Soling is made out of fiberglass, but the Victor hull as stated earlier will be accepted as part of the fleet until such time as the Victor Soling One meter One design can establish it's own fleet in the country.

The PRSC Soling One meter has become very popular specially because people have noticed that the Mini soling (another very popular class in the country, only smaller in size) can actually out sail some of the bigger boats in an open class race, in fact a mini soling got 3rd place in one of the regattas that included some 36/600 boats, Seawinds, and an IOM, at that time we were not using any handicapping system!

It also is a big factor that because the Soling 1 meter is locally built and more readily available than imported boats, plus it comes in almost ready to sail, this all lead to a quickly growing fleet. Also there was a regatta when Soling 1 meters were given as prizes!

SOLING CLASS RULES:

There are currently no official class rules for the Soling 1 meter class. However because the boat is very similar to the Soling one Meter of AMYA, the  Soling One Meter class rules of the same can be followed except only for the part of "One maker" and the material of the hull.  Class rules for the One Meter Soling can be found here!

MEMBERS:

Currently there are 4  Soling 1 meters active with the fleet.
