The Youth Fellowship, TGIS!, and Camp

"Everything with you is better / We got it good as long as we're together
Anything we do whatever / Everything is better with you"

                                                                             "Everything"

Every Sunday in the DCBC Youth Fellowship is really something to look forward to! Be it a day for Bible Study, Evangelism and Outreach, or some Special Event, it is always exciting to see how God will move through each song, prayer and time of sharing. It's amazing how He makes us realize the most important things through the simplest activities. But far more important than the programs are the people we meet, and the friendships that are formed. Without the programs we can still be a fellowship, but without the people, we cannot. We are a group of people growing together in love, friendship, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

"How about Love? Measure in Love. Seasons of Love"
                                                                             "Seasons of Love"

One thing we are constantly reminded of is to express genuine Love – Love for God, Love for family, Love for friends. Love is God's greatest gift. His unconditional love for us is not something that we should keep to ourselves. It is something that we should share. It is meant for us all. We can only love because Christ first loved us.

"Thank You for loving me / Thank you for all you have done
I can never be all I was meant to be / If you hadn't given your love"
                                                                             "Thank You"

Family is a gift. Our parents are the stewards God has entrusted our lives to. We want to express our gratitude to our ever-supportive, ever-loving parents! Their love is a reflection of our Father's love for us. If it weren’t for their sacrifices, their guidance, and their lives we would not be where we are today; we would not be who we are today.

"Friends are friends forever / If the Lord's the Lord of them
Though it's hard to let you go / In our Father's hands we know
That a lifetime's not too long to live as friends"
                                                                             "Friends"

For now we are together because God allowed it. But surely in the not too distant future every one of us will be leaving the fellowship. The thought may sound absurd to us now, and most of us are not even thinking it yet. However, Life must go on. Friendship rooted in God is forever anyway. Circumstances may separate us physically, but our hearts will always be tightly knit. Our paths will cross again one way or the other, in this life or the next. For as long as the Lord is the Lord of us, we will always be friends — Friends Forever.

"We are the reason that he gave His Life / We are the reason that he suffered and died
To a world that was lost He gave all He could give / To show us the reason to live"
                                                                             "We are the Reason"

"Lord I will praise Your name forever
For you are love and life to me"

                                                                             "Lord of Love"

Why do we do this? Why do we bother to come together every Sunday as a fellowship? Why do we choose to go out of our usual schedules and make time for all the meetings, preparations, and paperwork? It is all about Him. His message of love for humanity is meant to be shared. Along with it comes God's call for us to disciple others so that they may also disciple others in time. We are investing in lives of young people faithfully believing that God will use them for His glory, for His work just as He uses us today. It is all about Him. And if we really understand that, then we should also understand that it involves sacrifice on our part — Selflessness.

It is not about us doing some good in this world. It is about God doing His work through us, for His glory alone... for His glory alone.

We are the DCBC Youth Fellowship. Everything I have said so far is who we are.

We performed our very first musicale, TGIS! (“Thank God It's Sunday!”) at the UP School of Statistics auditorium on March 18, 2007 for the English congregation. After all the rehearsals, the long nights, the disappointments, the delays, it finally went through! We even did an encore at the Asian Theological Institute on March 24 to raise funds for our camp, “In Christ: Life from the Grave.” We held the camp on April 9 to 14, at Pook ni Mariang Makiling in Los Banos, Laguna — six days and five nights!

TGIS! was not only a camp fundraiser, but a great opportunity to share God's message of love to the audience, a chance to show the world who we are. It was also a time for the fellowship, along with close friends from other churches, to grow in friendship and tighten the bonds. It was a chance for us to grow closer to each other and become more established as a fellowship rooted in God alone.

This third year was a time for the fellowship to be rebuilt after being 'broken down' the year before. Just like Jerusalem during Nehemiah's time, we were in the process of rebuilding the walls and reestablishing the community. TGIS! and camp played a big role in this process.

We praise God that He has prospered TGIS!, our camp, and our fellowship. It was worth all the effort. To God be the Glory!
